The play we were to present was called 'Evangelious the Forgotten King.'
The story is basically about a King who has to give his Kingdom to one of three scholars, that will be given a challenge to study in the outside world. Whoever does not succumb to the temptation wins the Kingdom and even a marriage to princess Nevan, the king's daughter. In the end, Evangelious, (One of the three scholars), keeps his focuse until the end and is rewarded with the Kingdom, and the princess, his one true love. However, all is not well for the new King, as the Prince, the son of the King, conspires with the devious, elegant, sophisticated, politically professinal, aristocratic count (who by the way, was portrayed by someone who should have one best supporting actor but was cheated), to take the throne of the newly crowned King Evangelious. It is a story of jeaolusy, Drama, and a hint of bad preparation.

Weren't we all so happy? Looks can be deceiving. What you're looking at is five guys who think "finally! its coming to an end". We should recap however, to when we were all practicing. It was fairly enjoyable, got to miss a few classes. The thing is, there were bad, even terrible times during our practice. A lot of people were so not in the mood and they basically dragged the people who were in the mood into their vortex of unmotivation.
Let's look at the Performance itself:
I've narrowed things down to a few factors. Those, not because some people had real difficulty acting, but because they were truly not focused.
Factor number 1: The most frustrating thing came with the props. I'm sure that could not have been Tim, he had to have a partner. Someone else who was supposed to bring the glasses missed the critical part during the toast between me and Sam. Whoever that was made us look like complete idiots. You know who you are, so thank you! You're the most alert person in the world and you must have had a hard time bringing two glasses, that barely weight anything. Nice job!
Factor 2: We all put the preasurre of the props on Tim. During the play however, he had help. But the thing is we didnt know who they were so when THEY made a mistake, Tim would be immediately blamed. That was wrong. We needed more specific props people and not just one person.
Factor 3:Laughter control during the slap scene. As funny as that was, I really thought of my dissapointment of what it could have been. There was so much potential for a very emotional scene.I really don't know what happened. I understand that yes, there were so much gitters but for the good of the overall play, I really wished that it wasn't so darn bad. Anyways, what's done is done.
Whenever there's a negative, there's a light at the end of the tunnel:
I really have to commend this guy. Renzo the narrator. You know what, he, in my opinion is the most underrated performer in the whole play. Why do I say that? He actually had the best voice in the play, clear and consice, when he walks, he always remembers his blocking and is always consistent. And despite the fact that some people were immature enough to tease, because they dont know how hard being a narrator be and sometimes, you really have to use renzo's tone of voice, because its one of the only ways to make your voice heard. It's necessary, I should know, I had people make fun of me a little cause I was using the same tone as his in my grade 5 play.
Another thing why, is that his performance, and technique is definitely enough to win him a best supporting or best actor, the problem is, although, he is a major performer, he is technically NOT an actor. I mean come on! narrators shed light on the story and give the suspense it needs. They really should change that. Anywas, Renzo was one of the few guys that carried this play. (Along with jerry, sam, tim, .... yes jason, you too, and maybe a certain candidate for best supporting that for reasons unexplained, just did not win it.
Ok, I'm gonna give the Devil his due. Jason, even though you were wearing slippers, you were still pretty cool. Overall I'd give him a grade of b+. Excellent voice, good movement, but the slippers just killed him in my opinion.
Now, What could we have done difrerently? Well, I would say, get better people, but we cant do that. We're a class. Another thing would be more practice, but there were classes and CCF had to be used by other people. So really there was not much we could do, but we still made the most out of it. and considering that it was our first time, I'd say we did adequately.
